Description

Pencil on A4 size paper. About 1hour and a half, no photoreferences used (that's why I post this in here :p), but a "real reference" for the coat, based on my own Cacharel coat :).
Character design for a book, this is just a quick sketch, I didn't wanted it to look very realistic ;) Although my scanner killed some of the shadows, the face should be very pale, it's exaggerated to fit her mood (ok, she's going to die, you won't read the book :p)

What do you think?
Btw, I posted this so I can give +10 points again, cause I unpublished some works..

I did a realism study if someone wants to help me with critiques... posted in Deviantart :) > http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/50634764/
Thanks!

Her pose looks a little off somehow, but that is some awesome shading work! I admire artists who can use pencils well. ^_^

Some depth missing and I don´t know but shadow look little bit odd.. or it is just me and mine eyes.. but without those minor things, EXCELLENT job in that time.. 1,5 Hours.. +6/7

Hello, thank you all for the comments and crits! :)
I've edited the picture and posted a new version.
I scanned it (older version) and also took a photo. The photo had better shading but it was out of focus, the scanned version bad shading... so I've blended the two of them with layers. I have also darkened the top of the coat and the hat, sharpened the hair a bit, and cleaned the bg.
I hope it looks better now, the older version can be seen in additional downloads.

Tell me which one you prefer, I feel it isn't very well focused! :p

Great work Blanca:)

you did good with using a real coat as ref, cloth
foldings are one of the most trickiest things to draw,
and they look good here! (thumbup)

I would soften the shadow on the left a bit more;)

Keep it up!

study hands a lot. everything looks ok appart from the hands. those generally take a lot of time to master;)
you could add a slight bg to it too, but no biggy:)

Brilliant.
Your artwork is absolutely brilliant .
You have beautiful skills in drawing :)
I couldn't do that :(.

Anyway, I really love the contrast of dark tones in this and light pasture of her skin. It really works well together . The coat is GREAT. Shading is very well done there.. and her hands.. mm. There is a problem but the fact of it is; is just that this is a pretty small drawing isn't it? It's on A4?, so drawing the hand must have been hard... Aswell as hands are quite hard. But not too hard. I always find noses the big fool-making swine lol. One more thing.
Something I just noticed. ...Is that .. you have a shadow.. That's GREAT
That is a shadow right:p lol.

no 'photoreferences' for the face, but did you use a mirror? Its very realistic, and you're obviously very productive if you did it in such a short time!

Well done! +6

edit: oh! i just saw the shadow of her hand where there's no cigarette! great little detail, i suppose that suggest why she's gonna die?

OMG are you serious you drew the girl without a reference??? o_O she looks so real!!!!! i thought you referenced it off fashion magazine or something. if that's the case it's really impressive! I am pretty sure that in a few years time you're going to be a big-name illustrator XD. i can just see it coming :p

Avatar minkens

 06/18/07 @652

I like this piece :d And the shadings+ contrasts.... Just one crit, her hand looks a bit scetchy compared to the rest... perhaps because u did spent less time on the details there? The face, for instance, looks more smooth...
but nevertheless a very nice piece
